- Client: Chesil Skies
- Focus: British independent luxury yarn company
- Services: branding, logo design and print materials
- Brief: create a contemporary brand style
- Concept: capture the coastal feel of the Dorset coast
Chesil Skies sell their own brand of luxury British yarns. The company positions itself as a compemorary brand and as a result, they wanted to move away from the rustic and traditional image carried by many other yarn brands.
The owner wanted to capture a sense of Chesil Beach in Dorset — somewhere they have a strong personal connection to and where their yarn range is produced.
The emblem is made from the letters C and S. Their organic shape represents movement of the sea and yarn fibres, and the curvature of the beach itself.
The colour palette is based on the Chesil Beach area. Muted purple from heather on the surrounding landscape, blue from the ocean in Winter, grey from the sky and orange from the sand and sun.
